Distinguished Applied Research
The Distinguished Applied Research category is one of the main categories in the Sustainable Education Award, and aims to honor applied research that makes outstanding scientific contributions that contribute to improving education and developing educational policies. This category focuses on research that relies on rigorous scientific methodologies and provides practical and applicable solutions, contributing to a sustainable impact in the education sector. This category is awarded to research that provides new insights, contributes to the development of pedagogical knowledge, and promotes innovation in education systems. The recommendations of this research are also expected to be applicable in the development of educational policies and practices, in line with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG4) related to providing quality and inclusive education for all.
Nomination Conditions
- Nomination applications are accepted from all governmental, private and non-profit institutions and entities, provided that the scope of application of the work is in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen.
- Nominations are not accepted from educational bodies such as the Ministries of Education, Ministries of Higher Education, and affiliated institutions and under their supervision such as public and private schools and universities.
- The submitted work must be unique and have not received any previous awards.
- Only one nomination is accepted in one category, more than one work is not allowed.
- It is not allowed for more than one entity to participate in the submitted work, as the submission is in the name of one entity only.
- The work submitted must be developed and implemented by the candidates themselves, and the work should not be assigned by other parties, so works from consulting companies developing the projects of the beneficiaries is not accepted.
- The funded work is accepted, provided that the approval of the funding entity to participate in the award is attached.
- The applied educational research must have been written in the year of nomination for the award or only one year before.
- Research published in scientific journals is accepted, provided that the date of publication does not exceed two years by the year of nomination.
- The candidate must submit a summary of the research in no more than 500 words.
- Works in Arabic or English are accepted.
- The nomination application must be submitted within the specified period on the Award's website.
- The candidacy application must be submitted through the website in the name of the head of the work team.
- The General Secretariat of the Award has the right to verify the accuracy of the data directly from the candidate by requesting additional evidence if it is not attached, and has the right to reject applications in the event of non-conformity of the conditions at any stage of the evaluation.

- New information/insights contribute to knowledge development in the research field.
- The research or its results have been published in leading scientific journals or research platforms.
- The impact and importance of the research results and recommendations in the education sector.
20% Creativity and Innovation
- Proposing new/innovative ideas and solutions in the field of research.
- Utilizing key technologies/modern methods used in the research.
- Encouraging creative thinking and non-traditional research experiments.
10% Partnerships and Collaborations
- Number and quality of collaborating entities in the applied research activities.
- Involving experts and specialists in the field of research.
- Fields in which the research encourages international cooperation or collaboration across different sectors.
30% Impact and sustainability
- Measuring the actual impact of the research on the community or the field addressed by the research.
- The sustainability of the results and their applicability in the long term or in broader scopes.
- Key recommendations or strategies outlined in the research to ensure the continued benefits resulting from the research.
